Quiet Time with Jesus – Discover Your Divine Assignment

Thursday, 4 May 2017

In 2001 when I decided to be baptized in water, I would not have known that my daily journal writing would be shared with many people whom I do not know, people I have not met and probably would never meet…

I have 5 personal ‘W’s and the first is ‘write’ – a divine assignment.

I did not suddenly know how to write or what to write… Perhaps, it had started when I could ‘talk to myself’ – reasoning things out with my mind… Perhaps, God started ‘talking to me’ when I was talking to myself… Then, I started writing… Then, I started sharing…

When I tried to ‘perfect’ my writing, God said - This is not literature...

When I tried to ‘correct’ my writing, I lost it…

I am aware of grammatical errors. I am also aware that some readers may find fault… but they don’t bother me any more. So long as I know God’s presence is with me, I’m satisfied.

Moses, Gideon, Jeremiah… had felt inadequate when God called them. If anyone of us feels inadequate, it is normal. I believe each and every one of us is treasured, valued and loved. I believe God puts dreams in us – each and every one. The dream that God gives you is different from the dream He gives me. The abilities God gives you are different from the abilities He gives me. Your strengths are different from mine. What is the SAME is – all good and perfect gifts are from Him – the same Father God who art in heaven, the Creator of the universe, the Holy One… Holy! Holy! Holy! He is the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY!

I believe God gives us – each and every one – a divine assignment. He assigns us to be a REWARD for someone. Even a negative emotion can be used by God e.g. anger. Anger can be holy. Anger can be a catalyst, stimulus, enzyme… if we know how to handle it.

Jentezen Franklin gave 4 points in a sermon on “Clues on your assignment”:

1)   Study yourself full

2)   Pray yourself hot

3)   Think yourself through

4)   Set yourself free

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

I thank You for all our spiritual leaders, preachers, teachers and writers. May we - each and every one of us - experience the love of Christ (though it is too great to understand fully) that we will be made complete with all the fullness of LIFE and POWER that comes from You (Ephesians 3:19).

Enable us to:

Study ourselves full (not half-full);

Pray ourselves hot (not cold or lukewarm);

Think ourselves through (wisely with the mind of Christ);

Set ourselves free (clothed in Christ);

It’s not about us. It’s all about YOU!

Each and every one of us is unique - divinely designed by YOU.

Song (Lord, I Need You by Matt Maher)

Lord, I come, I confess; Bowing here, I find my rest; Without You, I fall apart; You’re the One that guides my heart;

Lord I need You, O I need You; Every hour I need You; My one Defense, my Righteousness; O God how I need You;

Where sin runs deep, Your Grace is more; Where Grace is found, is where You are; Where You are, Lord, I AM FREE; Holiness is Christ in me…

So teach my song to rise to You; When temptation comes my way; When I cannot stand, I’ll fall on You; JESUS, You are my Hope and Stay…

Amen!
