Quiet Time with Jesus – Multiply

Saturday, 29 April 2017

When God made trees, birds, animals, man and woman, He provided the pattern of multiplication.

When Jesus said, “Go and make disciples” - He was also saying, “Go and multiply.”

God expects His creation to be fruitful and multiply.

Jesus expects His disciples to be fruitful and multiply.

My observation

In July 2016, my husband’s surgeon was Dr Ming Hui. In April 2017, his surgeon is Dr Isaac. Both doctors look to Prof Tang for guidance. Effectively, Prof Tang trains / mentors / multiplies surgeons of ‘his kind’ - they learn and practice according to what they have read (in medical books and journals), together with Prof Tang's guidance.

Likewise, when we become a believer of Jesus Christ, we look to a mentor or mentors for spiritual guidance. We learn by reading His Word, by observing our mentors and putting to practice what we know. God continually teaches us through Scripture and Spirit. We grow to become fruitful and to multiply.

What kind of disciples does God want us to make – His kind or our kind?

If my desire is to make disciples of HIS KIND, I must FIRST seek to KNOW Him (His character), imitate Him and BECOME like Him, so that I may make disciples of His kind.

God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion…” God has not changed His mind. He still wants us (all men, women and children) to multiply in His image, according to His likeness.

When God made fruit trees that yield fruit, and herb that yields seed, He provided the pattern of multiplication. Let us read Matthew 7:15-23.

Thank You Father God: You are continually giving us knowledge and understanding of Your Word:

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes and figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them. Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”

Thank You Father God: In Christ, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of Your grace which You made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, making known to us the mystery of Your will, according to Your good pleasure. In the dispensation of the fullness of the times You will gather together IN ONE all things in Christ.

Thank You Father God: You have given us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ, the eyes of our understanding being enlightened, that we may know what is the hope of Your calling.

Thank You Father God: In Christ, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance.

Thank You Father God: Because of Your great love with which You loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, You made us alive together with Christ (by grace we have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come You might show the exceeding riches of Your grace in Your kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Thank You Father God: All authority has been given to JESUS in heaven and on earth. We shall go and make (and multiply) disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that JESUS has commanded us; and You are with us always, even to the end of the age. Amen.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
— John 1:1
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
