It is very easy to be kind but it is not easy to share Christ. Helping an elderly lady cross the road, giving up my seat to a pregnant lady, sharing my umbrella with a stranger… are acts of kindness from my heart but I have not been able to prophesy, lay hands or share the Good News – continually.
It is very easy to let our daily chores and busyness smother our burning heart unless we learn the secret of abiding in Jesus. The word given to me this morning is CONTINUALLY.
How can we love continually? How can we preach continually? How can we pray continually?
Oswald Chambers: If the Spirit of God has stirred you, make as many of your decisions as possible irrevocable, and let the consequences be what they will be. We cannot stay forever on the “mount of transfiguration,” basking in the light of our mountaintop experience (see Mark 9:1-9). But we must obey the light we received there; WE MUST PUT IT INTO ACTION. When God gives us a vision, we must transact business with Him at that point, no matter what the cost.
We cannot kindle when we will
The fire which in the heart resides,
The spirit bloweth and is still,
In mystery our soul abides;
But tasks in hours of insight willed
Can be through hours of gloom fulfilled.
Our Father Who Art In Heaven, Hallowed Be Thy Name…
I have learned much from a brother in Christ and I want to pray for the Body of Christ. As Good Friday approaches, I want to pray and pledge:
We, believers and followers of Jesus Christ, pledge ourselves as One United People of God, regardless of skin colour, family background, language or education, to build bridges of kindness and love, and to be wells of uncontaminated living waters for the thirsty and weary.
Father God, empower us to be a blessing, a catalyst, an inspiration... to make a difference in this world of sin and darkness.
We are a light to the nations. We are vessels of hope. We are voices of life…
Dear LORD, speak and we will hear! We will trust and obey! We want the world to see YOU - through us - by the words we say, by the deeds we do, and by the way we live – CONTINUALLY - in the Spirit, according to Your Word.
Let’s meditate on the word CONTINUALLY. Let’s pray and ask God to teach us how to be connected with Him continually, so that we can hear Him continually and respond to Him continually.
