Quiet Time with Jesus – Discernment

Tuesday, 28 March 2017

Matthew wrote:

Then the eleven disciples WENT to Galilee, to the mountain WHERE JESUS HAD TOLD THEM TO GO. When they saw Him, they worshipped Him; but SOME DOUBTED.
— Matthew 28:16 (emphasis mine)

Even after seeing Jesus in the flesh, seeing miracles take place before their own eyes, and hearing the voice of the Son of God teaching them, they still doubt! What about us?

Moses said to the LORD,

Now show me Your glory.
— Exodus 33:18

I also want to see the LORD’s glory but I cannot see His face directly. HE IS GOD!

So how? Can we see the wind? No, we cannot but we can see the effect of the wind. We can hear the howling of the wind. We can also feel the power of the wind. Hallelujah!

My first physical encounter with the Holy Spirit was in the year 2000. At the command of His voice, my knees gave way…

The most terrifying encounter took place in the year 2009. I fell and nobody was behind me to catch me! The impact of my skull hitting the concrete floor was ‘deafening’. I felt an electric current run from the top of my head to the tip of my toes. I could not move for more than 5 minutes. A course-mate told me that I was very still (like dead). While I was lying on the floor, I asked God, “LORD, am I going to die? Yet not my will but Yours be done. Oh no! Don’t pray like that…” I was having a conversation - with the LORD GOD Himself. Finally when I sat up, my head was bleeding! To cut a long story short - I was sent to a doctor who examined me and concluded that the injury was superficial.

After several occasions of pseudo heart attacks and mysterious pain in different parts of my body, I began to ask the LORD for discernment.

Jesus said,

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
— Matthew 7:7-8

God never ignores my asking, seeking or knocking. He always answers, reveals and opens the door - without fail. He is faithful. What He said, He will do. Amen!

My Prayer

Dear LORD,

You are amazing! You are awesome! You are marvelous! You are magnificent!

Today, I want to pray and commit Your Church to You. We are Your people. We are Your children. We love You LORD! We worship You!

Father God, please give us a PURE heart so that we may SEE You; Give us a HUMBLE heart so that we may HEAR You; Give us a heart of LOVE so that we may SERVE You; Give us a heart of FAITH so that we may ABIDE in You. Truly, without You, we can do nothing! But with You, all things are possible! Amen!

Paul said, “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” (Ephesians 5:21)

Please help us to submit to one another. Give us discernment whenever we doubt. Give us eyes to see, ears to hear, hands to help, feet to go… and most important of all, give us Your heart of COMPASSION and LOVE. Amen!

Paul also said, “Do not put out the Spirit’s fire; do not treat prophecies with contempt. Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil.” (1 Thessalonians 5:19-22)

Father God, You are faithful. You are full of compassion and love. Work with us! Work in us! Work through us! May the world see YOU in us. In Jesus’ wonderful name I pray. Amen!
