There are words always on our lips but not always in our heart. One such word is love.
The Israelites requested Moses to go near God and listen to all that He says and then tell them all that the LORD tells him. They will listen and obey.
This is what Moses said,
Today, we need not ask someone to go near God and listen on our behalf to what He says. We can go near Him and listen. Let us listen with all our heart… The first word I hear is LOVE. Immediately, some verses flow through my mind: ‘Love the LORD, your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength’, ‘The fruit of the Spirit is love…’ and ‘God is love’…
Recorded in the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 6): Moses said, “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. LOVE the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress… Talk… Tie… Write…” Moses also said, “Fear the LORD your God, serve Him only.”
Apostle John reiterated and emphasized on the LOVE that God gives and commands us to love others (John 13:34-35, 14:15, 15:13 and 17).
Throughout the New Testament, God commands us to love (Romans 13:10, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, 16:14, Galatians 5:13, Ephesians 4:2, Colossians 2:2, 3:14, Hebrews 10:24, 1 Peter 1:22, 4:8 and many more).
Apostle John also wrote: This is the message you heard from the beginning - We should love one another. Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother… We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. ANYONE WHO DOES NOT LOVE REMAINS IN DEATH. Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him (1 John 3:11, 12,14 and15). These words are harsh but they are written in love.
Therefore, let us choose love in all circumstances. When we choose love, we choose God. The LORD, our God will guide our thoughts and actions, through the in-dwelling Holy Spirit. He will convict us, teach us and shape us to become more like Christ. The LORD our God is faithful and He will do it.
