Quiet Time with Jesus – Emotions

Wednesday, 22 June 2016

God wants us to guard our heart for it is the wellspring of life.

In Psalm 52:7, David wrote:

Here now is the man [Saul] who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!

Have you ever known anyone who made himself or herself feel bigger or better by putting others down?

Beth Moore: Putting others down to build ourselves up is perhaps the ultimate sign of gross insecurity.

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

Whenever negative emotions fill my heart, I want to commit my mind and heart to You, Father God! Search my mind. Purify my heart. Give me a teachable spirit. I am willing to be corrected by Your Holy Spirit. Let not feelings of jealousy, disappointment or offence be a result of ‘self love’. Open my eyes to see myself as You see me. You have the perfect plan. You are perfect in all of Your ways. I want to conform to Your image. Let me be a living sacrifice. Let me be a pure vessel fit for Your fragrance. I want to anchor myself in You and Your Word. I have the seal of the Holy Spirit. I want to be guided by Your Spirit, walking in Your will and working out my salvation. I want to stay on course - on the straight and narrow path You have for us. I will trust You with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding. In all my ways, I acknowledge You and You will make my path straight. Amen.

I love You, Lord, and I lift my voice; To worship You, O my soul rejoice; Take joy, my King, in what You hear; May it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear. Amen!
