Before I became a Christian, I was self-confident. I was proud to boast that our processing team will not make any mistake during a system migration after a merger. Indeed, our team did not make a single mistake, to the amazement of our new manager. That was an excellent record, a man-made accomplishment in a man-made situation.
In 1999, I decided to switch from banking to pre-school education. It was during this time of change that I encountered God. It was also in the new working environment that I was humbled. He gave me a clear vision.
Oswald Chambers: When God, by His Spirit through His Word, gives you a clear vision of His will, you must “walk in the light” of that vision (1 John 1:7).
As I walk with Jesus, I have learned not to compare myself with others or judge them – that is between God and them. I thank God for what He has given me – time, treasure and talent.
Time waits for nobody. I have decided not to waste time over issues that do not really matter. Every day, I am reminded by the Holy Spirit: Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe. I believe we are made to shine for Jesus.
I have decided to work out my salvation with fear and trembling, not with pride and arrogance, for it is God who works in me to will and to act according to His good purpose (Philippians 2:12-15).
My Prayer (Colossians 3)
Dear Father God,
Today, I would like to pray for all my brothers and sisters in Christ. Help us to set our hearts and minds on things above, not on earthly things. Help us put to death whatever belongs to our earthly nature. Remind us that we are Your chosen people, holy and dearly loved. Help us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Help us to bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances we may have against one another. Help us to forgive as You forgave us. Help us put on love, which binds us all together in perfect unity.
Let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts and the Word of God dwell in us richly as we teach and admonish one another with wisdom, and as we sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in our hearts.
Holy Spirit, remind us to be watchful and prayerful. We want to seize every opportunity to preach good news to the poor, set the captives free, pray for the sick and bless people of all nations. May Your holy presence be with us. May Your anointing be upon us. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!
