Quiet Time With Jesus – Confidence

Tuesday 3 May 2016

I was watching a video on Facebook … and my mind was processing … ah! Confidence is the word!

Confidence in God – We have confidence in God – for the impossible, the supernatural, the extra-ordinary, the unexpected …

Confidence in ourselves – We have confidence in all that God has given to us – our skills, education, talents, experience, knowledge, relationships, love … hmm, this list can go on and on, ya?

God has given us so much! We may not have ‘everything’ but we have everything we need.

My Prayer

Dear Father God

I thank You for giving us books and good authors. Today, I thank You for David Holdaway who wrote the book, “Winning over Worry”.

Excerpt from his book

We are to pray about everything. Nothing is too big or too small for God because He cares about everything …

We are to pray with a thankful heart because this sets our focus on God and not our problems …

A group of geography students was studying the Seven Wonders of the World and were asked to list what they thought were considered to be the present Seven Wonders. Though there were some disagreements the following got the most votes,

Egypt’s Great Pyramids, Taj Mahal, Grand Canyon, Panama Canal, Empire State Building, St Peter’s Basilica and China’s Great Wall.

While gathering the votes the teacher noted that one student, a quiet girl, hadn’t turned in her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. She replied, “Yes, a little. I couldn’t quite make up my mind because there were so many.” The teacher said, “Well, tell us what you have and maybe we can help.” The girl hesitated, then read, “I think the Seven Wonders of the World are,

1.     To touch

2.     To taste

3.     To see

4.     To hear … she hesitated a little and then added,

5.     To feel

6.     To laugh, and

7.     To love

Then the room was so full of silence it was deafening!

O Father God, thank you!

And then I continued to pray … for David and Jan Holdaway, for their family, their ministry … Dear Father God, please bless the works of their hands. Amen!
