Ellie said, “When my thoughts wander into the future, when I begin to worry about tomorrow or next week or next year, God’s peace evaporates like water in the desert.”
Our God provides. Sometimes, He gives just what we need to get through each day. Exodus 16:4 tells us that the Israelites were told to gather manna only enough for one day.
In 1998 when I was retrenched, my children were only 15, 12 and 7 years old. When I look back now, I am amazed how God had provided for my family. I can testify with all my heart that He is indeed a good good Father.
Jesus Himself was born in a manger and grew up as a carpenter’s son. The Son of God learned obedience through suffering from the beginning to the end of His life on earth. As children of the Living God, we must FIRST learn to be as obedient as Jesus.
Jan Dravecky: When I spend time with God in prayer and His Word, I’m like the Israelites who gathered manna for the day. I receive enough of His direction, peace, wisdom, and comfort to see me through the day. Tomorrow is tomorrow.
Dear Father God, please teach me to know right and wrong. Teach me to be wise and not foolish. When things happen, give me discernment to know whether it is Your act of discipline or the devil’s act of distraction. Father, I want to obey You at all times. I must read and meditate on Your Word daily. Illumine it for my understanding.
David was an ordinary shepherd boy until Samuel anointed him with oil. The Bible says, “… from that day on, the Spirit of the LORD came upon David in power” (1 Samuel 16:13). I know that I cannot do much until You anoint me, LORD! I know that Your vision is crystal clear. With Your anointing, I will be able to see clearly. I will be able to obey at all times. Sovereign LORD, I am poor in spirit, hungry for Your Word and desperate for Your Spirit – that is my PHD!
So, in the name of Jesus, I pray that I will finish well and be able to say, “It is finished” with my last breath.
Father God, I look to You for the provision of manna. Your grace is sufficient for me. Amen.
