On Friday 29 April 2016, I was sharing with a person (who doesn’t know the Lord yet) about what a sister in Christ had felt regarding her relationship with her friends ...
When I said, “Maybe, God was showing her something …” she rebuked me! “You are pulling God into the water!” These words were spoken in Cantonese.
I explained to her that our God is a Personal God. He knows and He cares about every little detail of our lives. He sees our heart. He knows our desires. He teaches us. He guides us. He corrects us. He is our Personal God, our Good Good Father God.
After this conversation, I reflected on what I said and prayed.
Dear Father God
Indeed, You are our Personal God. You know us more than we know ourselves. Please reveal our true ‘self’ to us – especially ungodly thoughts that are not pleasing to You. Help us to change the way we think. Help us to re-align our thinking to be in line with Your Holy Word. Come Holy Spirit! Speak to us! Teach us and counsel us! Convict us and change us! We want to become what You want us to become. Let the fruit of the Spirit manifest so that all men (and women and children) may see and know that You are our PERSONAL God! Amen!
We want to draw closer to You each day not because You do not know us but because we want to know You – more and more intimately! Amen!
I pray for all my brothers and sisters in Christ that we may be empowered by Your Spirit to speak life and love to one another, and also to others who do not know You yet. Please remove the scales from their eyes, sharpen their ears and soften their hearts. O Father God, prepare the soil of their hearts so that we may plant the seeds of LIFE into them! Amen!
You have assigned to each one of us a task. We may be led to plant the seed or to water it. But Father God, You are the One who makes it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only You who can make things grow!
We are Your fellow workers; We are Your field; We are Your building; By Your grace, You are helping some of us to lay the foundation as expert builders. By Your grace, You are helping some of us to build on the foundation laid by others. We must be careful how we build. We need Your wisdom! We need Your strength! We need Your power!
Psalm 127:1 reminds us,
Father God, please remind us to build carefully because our work will be shown for what it is – the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work.
Father God, please remind us that the wisdom of this world is foolishness in Your sight. Thank You LORD!
In Jesus’ name I pray.
Truly, our God is a Personal God. Let us seek Him passionately, live prayerfully and serve purposefully.
