Quiet Time with Jesus – Alone with Him

Tuesday, 17 May 2016

When your child is a baby, you feed him (her). You watch him grow. You watch him learn to crawl, stand and walk. Soon, he can run …

When you are a newly born-again baby belonging to the One who redeemed you, you are like a baby too. Our Father God feeds us age-appropriate food (through His Word and His Spirit, and His servants on earth). He watches over us. He does not want us to remain as babies in Christ.

Our Father God does not spoon-feed us forever. He does not force-feed us either. We are allowed to choose what and when we want to eat.

Are you crawling, standing or walking now? Are you already running? How fast are you running? Are you running too fast? Do you have a ‘sprained ankle’?

We are His beloved children. We are at different stages of growth. He knows where we are. And He loves us. John 3:3

A conversation

It is time you do your own devotions … Spend time alone with God. Talk to Him one-on-one. It’s intimate talk. Let Him talk back to you. Write it down. Take notes. Write down what He says … Write down what you see (visions) … Draw if you cannot find words to describe. John wrote down what he saw using words that help us visualize the Throne of God (Revelation 4:1-6a).

When you are with your closest friend, what do you talk about? Do you talk all the time? When you pour out your thoughts, feelings, opinion … does your closest friend listen attentively? When you are done talking, would you want to hear what He has to say?

When you are talking to someone, have you ever thought, “I just need you to listen; I know what I’m doing; I don’t need your advice; you think I’m still a three-year old…?”

What do you talk frequently about? Do you talk more about situations or about people? Who are the people you talk about?

God loves people. He died for them – all of them, regardless of who they are, what they have done, what they are doing…

The key to salvation is repentance.

Perhaps, you are talking to Him about your son (daughter). Would you not want to hear what He has to say about him (her)? Would you not want to know His plan for him (her)?

Very often, we don’t hear …

Today, God says, “Be still, and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10

To me, He says, “I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.” Isaiah 46:10

What He says is good enough for me. In peace I will lie down and sleep, for He alone, my Father God, keeps me and my family safe. Psalm 4:8
