Quiet Time with Jesus – Command Central (CC)

Wednesday, 9 March 2016

Our hearts are the control room of the rest of our lives. If there’s something wrong in our control room, everything else suffers.

I want Jesus to run my control room. Scripture exhorts us to keep our minds focused on things above (Colossians 3:1-2).

Action required: I will continually go back to the question “Is my heart right?”

“I don’t actually pray much,” I was thinking, “I talk to myself a lot, almost all the time.” This habit developed since I was young. Whenever I’m alone, I would talk to myself.

After I realized that praying is talking to God, I began to talk to God instead of talking to myself. I would tell God “So-and-so said this; So-and-so did that; Father, I have this problem; Father, we have that problem ..."

Excerpt from the book “Jesus” written by Wayne Cordeiro

Sometimes I stop by the ocean near my office in Hawaii, sit on a brick wall, and simply talk to the Lord. In prayer I’ll ask God to reveal any area that needs refining. I’ll go through the various rooms in my heart to see if they’re aligned with things above. Questions include: God, how’s my marriage doing? How’s my devotional life going? Am I being grateful? How am I doing in my attitude toward people who give me problems? Unquote

A man was giving Cordeiro trouble at the church … Cordeiro was upset, but he remembered the words of Paul,

Be angry, and yet do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your anger
— Ephesians 4:26

Cordeiro wrote: I needed to ask God, “How am I doing with my anger?”

How did Jesus deal with His detractors?

How did He deal with those who were persecuting Him?

Lesson: I need to scrub my heart, and not only scrub it, but get LYL out of it, so that Jesus can open and close the doors in the control room.

Paul wrote:

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you – unless, of course, you fail the test?
— 2 Corinthians 13:5

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

We must align our thoughts in accordance with Your Will and Your Word!

The Bible tells us that Jesus who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood, and HAS MADE US TO BE A KINGDOM and priests to serve His God and Father – to Him be glory and power forever and ever! Amen. Revelation 1:5b-6.

This is amazing grace! Jesus has made us to be a kingdom! Paul also said that our body is the Temple of God. We are priests! We are a kingdom! Hallelujah! Praise the LORD!

This is amazing grace! Worthy is the Lamb who was slain … (my spirit is singing).

Father God, I’m ready to take the next step. Lead and I will follow.

In Jesus’ name I pray.
