When I was a little girl, my mother told me that I’m born in the year of the snake. I didn’t like it! It’s an ugly reptile! I had wondered why God created such an ugly animal.
Was the serpent a beautiful creature before he sinned against God? One thing I’m sure - the serpent (snake) did not crawl on its belly and did not eat dust, before the curse!
Lucifer was a beautiful angel, if not the most beautiful in heaven. He was called a ‘morning star’, son of the dawn … He had once laid low the nations – that speaks of power. But, he had the wrong aspiration – he wanted to raise his throne above the stars of God! He wanted to sit enthroned … on the UTMOST HEIGHTS of the SACRED MOUNTAIN. If Lucifer sits on such a throne, where does God sit? Lucifer (Satan) wanted to sit on God’s throne!
A teenager who works hard for good results said to her prayerful mother, “Listen! If I do well, I’m not giving any credit to God.” My heart 'breaks'. I prayed, "Forgive her LORD! She does not know what she is saying." An elderly man who had worked hard all his life and accumulated great wealth told me, “I’m not interested in God.” My heart ‘bleeds’ and I prayed, “Dear LORD, don’t let him leave this world before he accepts You as his Lord and Savior. Amen.”
When I left school at the age of 18, I had said, “I do not need anybody’s help to find a job.” That was pride!
Dear Father God,
You are our good, good Father. You give good and perfect gifts to us. The Bible says that every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. You have given me so, so much! You have given me the five senses – I can see; I can hear; I can smell and touch and taste. You have given me mobility – I can walk; I can hop; I can run, jump, dance, swim … You have given me a clear mind – I can think; I can analyze; I can organize … You have given me a heart … You have given me life …
I praise You! I praise Your Holy Name! The Bible says, “God is love” – O how You love me!
O how You love us! O how You love even those who have gone astray! Your love is overwhelming! Your love is amazing! Who in the world would lay down his life for another?
You left Your throne to come among us so that You can teach us personally!
You have come among us to demonstrate Your love and power!
Paul told Timothy,
The NKJV puts it this way, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Hallelujah!
How wonderful! How beautiful! I declare that I have a spirit of power and of love and of a sound mind. Amen!
Rick Renner (RR): ‘follower’: mimetes (Greek) means ‘imitator or mime; emulating what you see someone else doing’
LYL: Jesus is the Son of God. He came in the form of an ordinary man empowered by the Spirit of God.
RR: Because Paul uses this word in Ephesians 5:1, he is telling us to model our lives after God. Just as a professional actor is committed to capturing the emotions, looks, voice, character, and even the appearance of the person he is portraying, we are to put our whole heart and soul into imitating God in every sphere of our lives. This means we must make a decision to act like God!
Dear God, please start with my heart …
“Change my heart O God; Make it ever true; Change my heart, O God; May I be like You; You are the Potter, I am the clay; Mold me and make me; This is what I pray; Amen.
(Song: Change My Heart O God)
