My 24-year old son said, “Time is short!” My response: “I agree! That is why I must do things that are important.” But his thinking is different: “I’m not thinking about doing important things. I’m thinking about doing everything.”
I was trained to be ‘perfect’ – from processing financial transactions to making payments. One mistake could cost my employer a lot of money! I was trained to spot mistakes. That was my job for 27 years. As I grow older, my thinking changed. As I read His Word, my thinking changed. As I watch and pray, my thinking changed.
For a period of time, I got confused - compassion versus compromise.
My thought process
Conscience: “What is right is right. What is wrong is wrong.”
Holy Spirit: “Christians must not compromise on Christian values.”
Conclusion: Christians must love what God loves and hate what God hates. We must discern what is false teaching. We must not be misled. We must not be deceived. We must measure ourselves against God’s standard. We must remember that God does not tolerate sin (self-check / self-audit / self-examination).
The Holy Spirit is the Best Teacher. He is my Helper in all things. God is the Judge. He is my Father in heaven. He is all-knowing. I cannot hide anything from Him.
The Bible says that
Dear Father God, Your Word says that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. Amen! Romans 8:1-2
The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.
I declare that the Spirit of HIM who raised Jesus from the dead is living in me. Romans 8:11a
I know that the Spirit of Truth helps me in my weakness. He intercedes for me in accordance with God’s will. I know that in all things God works for my good.
I believe that Christians all over the world are being conformed to the likeness of Christ. If God is for us, who can be against us?
I am reminded of Romans 12. Verse 1 reminds me to be a living sacrifice; Verse 2 tells me to renew my mind; And verse 3warns me not to think of myself more highly than I ought, but rather think of myself with SOBER JUDGMENT, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given me.
Father God, there is so, so much to learn from Your Word (Romans 8:4 …)
Holy Spirit, please come and work in me so that I may work with You. And through the power of God, the Will of God shall be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Living out the Word of God glorifies God!
