Quiet Time with Jesus – Go and love

Monday, 28 March 2016

I often score 100 marks for my Chinese memorized dictation. It was easy to regurgitate a passage from my Chinese textbook. However, I often encountered difficulty when I wanted to communicate in mandarin. I could not even write a proper letter in Chinese for my mother! She was frustrated with me. “What’s the point of sending you to school?” she would ask. However, in trying to help me, the one listening (when I share about the love of God) actually pays attention to what I’m saying! Praise the Lord!

Diversity of human languages must not hinder us from sharing the Gospel. Acts of kindness, compassion and love speak louder than words. Even a gentle pat or a look of love speaks volumes. Once again, I see my sister in Christ wiping the face and hands of a cancer-stricken old man. Once again, I hear her singing … This particular scene had cut deep into my heart – the language of love is universal. Praise God!

God is saying, “Go and love”

Human nature: We love because we like what we see or hear. When someone is nice to us, we want to be nice to them. When someone is nasty to us, immediately we want to be nasty to them. That’s human nature.

But, we are no longer influenced by human nature because the Holy Spirit is at work in us, changing and conforming us to His image.

The Bible says,

For in Him we live and move and have our being. We are God’s offspring.
— Acts 17:28

My prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, Creator of heaven and earth, You are awesome! You see the end from the beginning. Your kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to give us power and love to continue the work of Christ.

Father God, You are able to exploit Satan’s evil intentions and use them for Your redemptive purposes. You work all things for our good and Your glory. When Satan causes calamity, we can answer him with the words that Joseph answered his brothers when they sold him into slavery: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good.”

You are sovereign in all things and in our lives. Help all my brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world to trust You and to hold firmly onto the conviction that You will work all things for our good, even as we are tested by forces of evil that mean to do us harm. I pray that You will be glorified by our responses. Amen.

I proclaim that we are more than conquerors because in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. And as we conform to the likeness of Christ, we know with certainty that God is for us. It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemns? We know with absolute certainty that Christ Jesus who died was raised to life and is at the right hand of God interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who LOVED us.

Nothing can separate us from the LOVE of GOD that is in CHRIST JESUS our Lord! Amen!
