Quiet Time with Jesus – Truth that sets man free

Sunday, 27 March 2016

My sister is not a believer of Jesus Christ yet. She worships another god. She is a faithful friend and loyal devotee. A sister in Christ told me that her mother taught her not to make people rebel against their gods. That provoked my thinking: If we don’t tell them about Jesus, our family members, our friends, our colleagues, our neighbors, and people around us will go to hell!

I absolutely agree that loyalty and faithfulness are good characteristics. Christians embrace loyalty and faithfulness too. It’s not about moral values. It’s about life and death!

Why do some people turn from (some even run from) one religion to another? Why do some people have one million and one gods?

The reason is simple. They want to ‘play safe’. In case they are wrong, they still have other gods to turn to. For some, they are ‘not sure’ which god is real and which god is the strongest. Some people think that ‘heaven is like earth’ where there is a king supported by officials who are responsible for different departments e.g. the kitchen gods take care of the kitchens of all households. The funny part of this kind of belief is: the so-called heavenly king does not have the all-knowing power of God. He relies on the reports submitted to him by the kitchen gods once a year! And members of the household can even bribe the kitchen god to submit a good report so as to receive more blessings the following year!

After analyzing why people believe what they believe, I come to a conclusion: Man desires peace and harmony in the physical world as well as the spiritual world. That is why they think they can influence the gods to sit side by side in harmony. Man not only desires peace but some even seek ‘emptiness’ which actually means – I shall have no more burdens, no more worries, I am set free, I have inner peace. Many people believe that doing good works will earn them the reward of a good life when they are reincarnated.

When we know the TRUTH, the TRUTH will set us free. Amen!

My prayer

Dear Father God, You are the Creator of heaven and earth. Give man knowledge of the TRUTH because the TRUTH truly sets us free. Amen! Knowledge of the TRUTH will set us free from the power of sin and death. We know with absolute certainty the answers to the following questions (see below). The answers clearly reveal the TRUTH.

Yes! Your will shall be done on earth as it is in heaven, and not the other way round! What a deception! Forgive us LORD!

Your kingdom has come! Anoint our lips, consecrate our hearts, O Almighty God! Give us the power of God whenever we share the Gospel.

In Jesus’ name I pray.

Amen.

Questions (*)

  • Who created man? Answer - Genesis 1:26
  • Who rescued us by paying a ransom for us? Answer - Matthew 20:28, Hebrews 9:15
  • Who redeemed us? Answer - Galatians 3:13
  • Who revived us? – Isaiah 57:15

The next question we should ask ourselves is: When should we, true disciples of Jesus Christ be ALONE and when should we not be alone?

  • Our model is our Lord Jesus Himself. He often withdrew from the crowd to be alone with the Father. We should do likewise.
  • Jesus called 12 men to follow Him. They left everything and followed Him. They were with Him day and night for 3 years. He taught them everything the Father wanted Him to teach and sent them out.
When Jesus had called the Twelve together, He gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and He sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
— Luke 9:1-2
  • Then, Jesus sent out the 72 -
After this the Lord appointed 72 disciples and sent them 2 by 2 ahead of Him to every town and place where He was about to go.
— Luke 10:1

Our prayer

Dear Father God, we know that Apostle Paul discipled Timothy. He said, “The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith (1Timothy 1:5). Dear Holy Spirit, please help us to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in us through the laying on of hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:6-7). Self-discipline takes time. It is not about blind obedience. It is about right thinking and responsible behavior. We know Who is the Best Teacher. He is none other than the Holy Spirit (aka the Spirit of Truth, the Spirit of God). Therefore Father God, we must yield to the Holy Spirit - at all times, go forth and share the Good News – speaking in love (as Jesus loved) with a pure heart, a good conscience and a sincere faith.

Amen!
