I am sometimes corrected for what I say … Puzzled, I began to seek God for clarity.
If we say, “I can do all things (full stop)” what do people think? Someone might think, “She is so proud.” But, if we say at the right time, right place to the right person, “You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.” The hearer is encouraged.
Dear Holy Spirit, teach me to speak words that encourage people, not to put them down, but to heal their wounds, heal their hurts - words that will help them stand up and walk with You again with renewed strength.
Please stop me from saying words that do not help at all, words that would only add salt to wounds, words that re-open old wounds, words that would cause more harm than good. O Lord, how I need You!
Father, may every word that comes out of my mouth carry the fragrance of Christ and the power of God. Amen.
Some Christians cannot tell the difference between legitimate faith and superstition!
The Israelites during the time of the judges, found themselves under the heel of the Philistines. The Israelites had gone out to fight against the Philistines and met bitter defeat. About four thousand soldiers lost their lives in the battle. They had rejected and ignored God for a generation. Yet, when they were defeated, they asked, “Why did the LORD bring defeat upon us today?” 1 Samuel 4:3
We can take a great lesson from their presumption. The sovereign God loves deeply, but He will not be disrespected. He will not permit us to take Him for granted. He will not honor our neglect.
A child whose heart is on his father’s wealth may go all the way out to please his father; An employee whose heart is on self-gain (promotion and increment) may go all the way out to please his boss; An actor whose heart is on fame may say what the hearers love to hear, do what the audience loves to see … but, our God is NOT INTERESTED in what we do or say - He isONLY INTERESTED in OUR HEART.
What is in your heart today?
During Jesus’ time on earth, God was sitting on His Throne while His Beloved Son walked everywhere He wanted Him to walk. The Son of God taught everything the Father wanted Him to teach. The Son did everything the Father wanted Him to do. He was in the Father and the Father was in Him, AT ALL TIMES.
Right now, we are the ones God is teaching and commanding through His Word and His Spirit. Each one of us can read the Bible. Each one of us can commune with God. When we don’t understand, we can ask. God will answer.
God reveals Himself through His Word and His Spirit.
When we do good works in the name of the Lord, inevitably we do battle at the same time. The truth is: We can do all thingsTHROUGH CHRIST who gives us strength. WITH GOD all things are possible.
Jesus said, apart from Jesus, we can do nothing!
Jesus also said that we are to bear much fruit, showing ourselves to be HIS DISCIPLES.
When I hear little children sing, “I am a friend of God” – my heart beats faster – of course, they are friends of God – they are so pure – unless we become like little children (Jesus said) – O Lord, please show us how to become like little children. Amen!
I have a few good friends – at first, they were my “subordinates” (sorry, I don’t really like this word), then, they became my close friends, and later, some of them became my ministry partners. For me, it is the same with God. At first, I am His 'servant', then He calls me ‘friend’, and now He calls me to 'partner' Him in His work - to reconcile all men back to God. Hallelujah!
If we observe how a baby learn to climb the stairs, we will understand how God wants us to learn. The baby is not created to fly (not even to walk at birth - some animals could walk the moment they were born). O Father God, You are an amazing Creator! We love You!
Therefore, may every true disciple hear You say,
But FIRST, we must obey His command to love each other AS HE HAS LOVED US.
Your LOVE is everlasting – Your LOVE is never changing – Please fill us with Your LOVE, the kind of LOVE that comes from you. Let us become as pure as little children. Amen!
