Quiet Time with Jesus – In His Presence

Wednesday, 16 March 2016

I’m a woman. I do not know a man’s thoughts but I do know how a woman feels towards her children. Hannah was childless. She prayed earnestly. She made a vow to God. She fulfilled it.

Hebrew mothers customarily nursed their children until they were about three years old. I cannot imagine a more difficult age to tear myself away from a child. Think about all the cute three-year-olds we have met … The human mind might even think, “The mother is heartless …”

But, God had a plan for Samuel. His plan was far more significant than any plan that can be devised by the most loving set of parents.

I can imagine Hannah nursing baby Samuel looking into his face with love overflowing, telling him the faithfulness of God every day.

Would you do that when you nurse your baby?

How important is every moment in a child’s life!

Beth Moore (BM): I recall a scene, engraved in many of our memories, of a tiny boy stepping forward from his grieving mother, saluting the flag-draped coffin of a man who was not only his daddy but the President of the United States.

YL: Respect

BM: Imagine another scene - A tiny three-year-old, still with creases of satiny baby skin around his plump little thighs, bending his knee and bowing before El Elyon, the sovereign God of all creation. How precious this child must have been to God. How in the world could a child that age have such respect for the God of the universe?

YL: I may offend parents but I earnestly pray that parents raise their children like Hannah did. When they enter the presence of the Lord, they will worship Him with reverence and awe.

What did Samuel do when Hannah took him to the temple when he was three-years-old?

Samuel worshiped God (1 Samuel 1:28)

The Hebrew word is ‘shachah’. The Complete Word Study Old Testament tells us that “shachah was not used in the general sense of worship, but specifically to BOW DOWN, to PROSTRATE ONESELF as an act of respect before a superior being.”

My Prayer

Dear Father God in heaven,

Each time when I enter into the depth of worship, I pray that I may see You on the throne as described in the book of Isaiah and Revelation …

I pray that I may hear Your Voice speaking to me … I ask that I may hear every word you say … I pray that nothing in my earthly surrounding can distract me from gazing at Your glory ...

I pray that Your presence would fill the place where we worship You, whether there are only two or three of us gathered in your name or 200 or 600 or 4,000, it is Your presence Lord that we desire ... Your presence Lord … Holy Spirit You are welcome here; Come and fill the atmosphere …

My mind is filled with songs of praise and worship ...

My heart is longing for a deeper relationship ...

Amen … amen … amen … amen.
