It was raining, heavier and heavier … I watched as the great volume of water washed away a great army of ants … They were helpless in the flood.
I saw how small I am in God’s Big Picture. No, I do not intend to belittle myself or anyone but I do see HIS BIG PLAN, a plan that is redemptive for all mankind. Praise the LORD!
I am a small part in His Plan. Every small part that we play in the place at the time where He positions us contributes to His Big Plan. One day, we will see the Complete Picture.
God’s complete plan is perfect. The trouble is – we are not always doing the work that He has assigned to us, individually and corporately. There is a time that we work as individuals. There is a time that we work as a team. We must listen to His instructions, directing us what to do at every moment. If we do not yield (submit and obey), if we do not do what He has planned for us to do, we will not see the Big Picture taking shape.
Imagine a group of children working together to build something of a certain design and suddenly, one child decided to do his own thing …
No! God is not rigid. He is the most creative Person on earth. Just look at the beautiful colours around us – the birds, the fish, the flowers, even the leaves, the mountains, the clouds – my list can go on and on and on – He is the Greatest Artist on planet earth.
We tend to think too highly of ourselves. Personally, I repeat, personally, I dislike man-made ‘new creations’ e.g. cross-breeds.
After I retired from salaried work, I took time to enjoy nature and I was absolutely amazed. God is such a wonderful Artist. He paints the skies …
Back to the ‘flood’ – God seems so harsh on the little ants … What do we expect Him to do?
Are we presumptuous about what God should do?
Do we tend to think, “Surely, God will do this (for me / for us) … Surely, God will do that …”
I am often presumptuous and I get “slapped” many, many times.
My prayer: Lord, will I never learn? Help me! I must not be presumptuous!
In my personal journal this morning I wrote:
LISTEN. Be still and listen.
LISTEN first, then MOVE to do His Will.
He has made us the way we are (individually and corporately) to do a certain part of the work that He had planned for us to do – that is His Big and Perfect Plan.
We cannot see the Big Picture yet. It is still work-in-progress. But, we can remind ourselves that His Big Plan is perfect, that His Plan is a REDEMPTIVE plan, a plan for ALL MANKIND.
“Nevertheless, in their presumption they went up toward the high hill country, though neither Moses nor the ark of the LORD’s covenant moved from the camp.” Numbers 14:44
Dear Father God,
You know how often I want to charge ahead and take control of things. When I do, I pray that You will remind me to stop, to be still, to listen and obey.
Please remind me to come to You with my heart and mind open to Your leading.
Please prompt me to consult with You so that I may claim on Your Promises only in Your will and in Your good time.
I thank You for speaking to me through Your servants. I shall remember to yield (align my will to Yours); Please give me oil to obey – usually we ask for anointing oil to do ‘great’ things but dear Lord, I need oil to obey You - oil that is essential for the Armour that I must wear at all times.
Please remind me that You have given me the key of authority. I can take authority over the storm, over the flood …
“I will soar with You above the storm; Father, You are King over the flood; I will be still and know You are God …” (Song: Still)
Your Perfect Plan will come to pass - complete and perfect, without any blemish, without any flaw. Amen!
