I came to know the Lord only when I was 46. Sometimes, I wish I had attended Sunday school when I was a kid. Then, I would have memorized Bible verses …
Looking at David, I thought of Samuel. Samuel anointed David to be king. Looking at Samuel, I thought of his mother, Hannah. Hannah was childless in a society where childbearing was everything. Hannah’s husband Elkanah had two wives and the wife with children was torturing the wife without children …
Looking at Joshua, I thought of Moses. God spoke to Moses ‘face to face’. Do I want a burning bush experience? Would I even notice that the bush is ‘burning’? Do I want a blinding experience? Surely, I wouldn’t miss it! Paul needed a blinding experience in order to ‘see’ Jesus. Paul repented after which he was never the same. All that Paul had gone through in his past, God used for His glory …
Today, God is saying: In the past, you may have done bad things. You may have a different mindset. In the present, you may be doing foolish things. You may not understand what it’s like to delight in the fear of the LORD. And, when you look into the future, you may not ‘see’ much …
You might be thinking: I ask but hear no answer; I seek but cannot find; I knock but the door is closed …
God says, “I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: MY PURPOSE will stand, and I will do all that I please.” Isaiah 46:10
Jan Dravecky: When we expect God to move in mighty ways through burning bushes, shaking mountains and pillars of fire, we may miss the gentle, more subtle ways He speaks to us.
Let us look for the face of God in those we meet today, His touch in those who touch us, and His voice in those who speak to us. If we feel alone, let’s ask God to send someone to show us HIS LOVE.
My recollection: God has spoken to me through songs like ‘Softly and tenderly’. The Holy Spirit has enveloped me in God’s love, leading me in songs like ‘Jesus loves me, this I know’ …; I had felt imprisoned in my circumstances (like a bird in a cage), God miraculously opened the door and set me free … Today, my chains are gone, I am set free …; In 1999, a door was opened for me miraculously. Walking through that door would ‘solve all my financial problems’ but I chose to walk away … From then on, my life was never the same again!
I believe that God has a reason behind everything; And He can use anything, anybody, anywhere … for HIS GLORY. Amen!
My Poem – His Purpose
To the world, the Gospel is a mystery; But we are called to tell His story;
The way to go, Christ came to show; Day by day, like Him we’ll grow;
His leading let us heed and follow; Then in Spirit and in truth let’s go;
To be salt and light, pure and blameless;
Reconciling man to God that’s the Purpose;
Led by His Spirit to the right place;
Walking in love, running the race;
We declare: Nothing is impossible! He is victorious!
Let’s rejoice and thank God! Jesus Christ lives in us!
