Quiet Time with Jesus – a victorious position

Rick Renner: No matter how anointed, skilled, or gifted you may be or how bold and courageous you think you are, you simply cannot maintain a victorious position in life apart from prayer. Without prayer, you can be sure of absolute or total defeat. But as you develop a lifestyle of prayer, taking advantage of every form of prayer available to you, you will find that victory is yours in the midst of every challenge!

I know of a man who started out in life penniless. Today, he is rich. This man had gone through poverty and hardship, hunger and cold. He was not defeated by his circumstances. He worked hard. Today, in his 80s, he exercises daily to keep his body fit, visits his doctor regularly and reading widely to avoid sicknesses like dementia and cancer. He is active – physically and mentally. But, is he in a victorious position?

How do we bring people like him to God?

This is my prayer: Father, I pray for this man and many who are like him. They have worked hard and have succeeded. But, everything they own now will become nothing when they leave this world. Reveal this truth to them, O LORD! Open their eyes to see You in the things that You have created and made available for us on this earth. Truly, truly, You are the Creator of all things! We praise You! We thank You! I see grace in everything that You have made, e.g. plants with medicinal value. I thank You for the huge ball of fire far, far away, without which we will die! Plants and animals will die! Everything will die! The earth will die! O LORD, have mercy on us! Have mercy on us, O Most High! In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. They have no speech, there are no words; no sound is heard from them; But their voices go out into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun, which is like a bridegroom coming forth from His pavilion, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. (Psalm 19)

Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the WHOLE DUTY of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.
— Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

O God, have mercy on us!
