Quiet Time with Jesus – Trust and Obey

Thursday, 18 February 2016

Do you often argue with God, question His calling, or suggest that He assigns someone else to do a task? Moses did and God proved that nothing was impossible for Him. I have no problem believing that God can do anything but I have reservation about my own abilities. I am still learning to trust God! “Does God really want to use me?” I would ask.

God said to Moses, “So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”

But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go …”

And God said, “I will be with you …”

Moses said to the LORD, “O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.”

The LORD said to him, “Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I the LORD? Now go, I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”

But Moses said, “O Lord, please send someone else to do it.”

Then the LORD’s anger burned against Moses … (Exodus 4:14)

I do not want the Lord’s anger to burn against me!!!

Reflection of past experiences

I love English subjects but dislike numbers. Strangely, I ended up working in a bank for twenty three years! Twenty three years is a long time!

Rick Renner: Your feelings of weakness and inadequacy actually qualify you as a candidate in God’s service! God is looking for people just like you, because He knows He will receive the glory for what He does through you. You’re exactly the kind of person God wants to use.

Jan Dravecky: God will never lead you where His grace cannot keep you.

God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things – and the things that are not – to nullify the things that are, so that NO ONE MAY BOAST BEFORE HIM. It is because of Him that we are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God – that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.”
— 1 Corinthians 1:28-31

Thanks be to God!

Do we dare to underestimate God’s goodness and provision for us?

My Prayer

Dear Almighty God,

We want to know You! We want to love You! We want to obey You! We trust that You are always with us wherever we go.

We want to seek You passionately! We want to live prayerfully! We want to serve You purposefully - for Your Glory!

May Your kingdom come! May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven!

Amen!
