Quiet Time with Jesus - Simplicity

Wednesday, 21 December 2016

A 6-year-old girl was lining up to go for outdoor play at a childcare centre. She told her classmates to go in front of her saying, “It’s ok. You go first.” During snack time, she lets her peers go first. I found out that she just learned Matthew 19:30 in Sunday School – “Many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.” I was both amused and amazed by how a little child learns and literally puts to practice what she has learned.

As we grow older, we begin to ask many questions especially the ‘why’ questions. Why am I doing this? Why am I doing that? Have you asked God why He sent His Son into the world? Ask and He will answer you.

My Bible teacher says that a Christian is someone who trusts in the knowledge and the wisdom of God, not in his own abilities. If we have a purpose of our own, it destroys the SIMPLICITY of pure obedience which should be characteristic of the children of God.

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

I want to keep my ways pure. I want to live according to Your word. I will continually seek You with all my heart; I will continually praise You!

Teach me Your word and I will rejoice in following Your statutes; I will meditate on Your precepts; I will delight in Your decrees; I will not neglect Your word. Amen!

Song:

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet; And a light unto my path; Thy word is a lamp unto my feet; And a light unto my path;

When I feel afraid; Think I lost my way; Still You’re here right beside me; Nothing will I fear; As long as You are near; Please be near me to the end;

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet; And a light unto my path; Thy word is a lamp unto my feet; And a light unto my path;

I will not forget; Your love for me and yet; My heart forever is wandering; Jesus be my guide, hold me to Your side; Help me to love You to the end;

Amen!
