Quiet Time with Jesus – Perfect Life

Friday, 2 December 2016

Oswald Chambers (OC): Christian perfection is not human perfection. Christian perfection is the perfection of a RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD that shows itself to be true even amid the seemingly unimportant aspects of human life. (Emphasis mine)

People who are living ‘perfect’ human life may have the idea that God is unnecessary – that through their own human effort they can live what they believe is a ‘perfect life’.

OC: I am called to live in such a perfect relationship with God that my life produces a YEARNING for God in the lives of others, not admiration for myself. Thoughts about myself hinder my usefulness to God. God’s purpose is not to perfect me to make me a trophy in His showcase; He is getting me to the place where He can use me. Let Him do what He wants.

Yearning and yielding, yearning and yielding – that’s the perfect life that we ought to live. Each day, let us yearn for more of God. Each moment, let us yield to the prompting of the Holy Spirit.

O what a beautiful day! Let us rejoice in it! O what a beautiful life! Let us live it!

Father God, whenever I think of Your EVERLASTING LOVE, I rejoice! You are such a good good Father! Your gifts are perfectly good - given at the perfectly right time. Your love is perfect. Perfect love drives out fear (1 John 4:18).

Teach us, O LORD, to follow Your decrees; then we will keep them to the end. Give us understanding, and we will keep Your law and obey it with all our hearts. Direct us in the path of Your commands, for there we find delight. Turn our hearts toward Your statutes and not toward selfish gain. Turn our eyes away from worthless things; preserve our lives according to Your word. Fulfil Your promise to Your servants, so that You may be feared. Take away the disgrace we dread, for Your laws are good. How we long for Your precepts! Preserve our lives in Your righteousness. Amen! (Psalm 119:33-40)

Thank You Father God!
