Quiet Time with Jesus – Great is the LORD!

Friday, 16 December 2016

As I approach the end of one year and look forward to the beginning of a new year, I went back to the time when Eve was deceived. How foolish she was and how foolish we are today! It is easy to be deceived! It is easy to have doubtful thoughts enter our human mind. Even a suggestion may grow into suspicion between friends who have known each other for a long time.

Do you know God? Do you trust Him?

With so much deception and distraction in the world today, it is easy to drift away from God! Things of the world look so good and desirable that many of us are still not willing to let go.

Scripture tells us that God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him (John 3:17).

Traditionally, we exchange gifts on Christmas Day. As a disciple of Jesus Christ, I would like to ask God what He wants for Christmas.

What have I given you?

I remember one prayer meeting when a sister-in-Christ gave me (symbolically) a box. I opened it and saw light. She told me later that she saw a heart inside the box.

Christmas reminds people that God gave His Son as a Gift to the world. It is the Greatest Gift given with the Greatest Love.

JESUS CHRIST is God’s Gift of Love!

When I was a student, I used 3 words to guide myself: Diligence, Discipline and Distinction. Diligence: I must work hard; Discipline: It is the driving force to work hard; Distinction: It is the goal for working hard. I focused on working hard.

Now that I am a Christian, I have 3 words to guide myself: Decision, Discipline and Destination. These words remind me that life is actually a journey towards eternity. Decision: I have decided to follow Jesus. Discipline: Obey God. It is not about working hard. It is about obedience. Destination: Eternity!

Is it possible?

“Nothing is impossible with God” (Luke 1:37).

Whenever something happens to cause an imbalance of my emotions or a doubtful thought to enter my mind, I would remind myself of my 3Ds.

“The Lord will guide you always” (Isaiah 58:11).

My Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

I give You thanks! I give You praise! You have preserved my life; You are renewing my mind; My spirit is alive! I live in Christ! Hallelujah!

You have provided even when I was not expecting it! You have continually surprised me! You are continually protecting me from harm (sicknesses, accidents and schemes of the enemy). You are continually guiding me in everything I do. Yes Lord, You will guide me always (Isaiah 58:11). Hallelujah!

You are my Creator, my Father in heaven, my Redeemer, my Saviour, my Master, my LORD – You are GOD! You are the GREAT I AM! My life is in You; My hope is in You; Yes Lord, to live is Christ, to die is gain (Philippians 1:21). I know that when I die, I will go to heaven; I will see Jesus face to face; I know that You have loved me with an everlasting love and by Your grace, I am saved from eternal death. Hallelujah!

I know that I have not gained eternal life through my own good works but it is through faith in CHRIST. My heart’s greatest desire is to see people getting saved.

Today, I want to pray for all believers of Christ: to be filled with the Holy Spirit and power. We will go forth and make disciples of all nations. We will see the hearts of the fathers turn to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous (Malachi 4:6, Luke 1:17). Amen!

Song: Great is the Lord and most worthy of our praise; The city of our God, the Holy Place; The joy of the whole earth; And great is the Lord in whom we have the victory; He aids us against our enemies; We bow down on our knees; And Lord we want to lift Your name on high; And Lord we want to thank You for the works You’ve done in our lives; And Lord we trust in Your unfailing love; For You alone art God eternal throughout earth and heaven above!
