Quiet Time with Jesus – Partakers Of His Sufferings

Sunday, 6 November 2016

But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ…
— 1 Peter 4:13

If I am going to be used by God, I must be prepared to go through a number of experiences that are not meant for me personally. They are designed to make me useful in His hands, and to enable me to understand what takes place in the lives of others. This is what I learned from Oswald Chambers.

The sufferings of Christ were not those of ordinary people. He suffered “according to the will of God” (1 Peter 4:19), having a different point of view of suffering from ours. May we KNOW the truth and be set free. Amen.

Are you willing to be a partaker of Christ’s sufferings?

We will not know why God is taking us that way, because KNOWING would make us spiritually proud. Yes, KNOWLEDGE makes us spiritually proud!

I have realized how weak I am in humility! I have realized how vulnerable I am when I succeed! PRIDE is just one thought away – “I did it” - and it will puff up like a balloon. If I don't check myself, the balloon of pride will definitely burst!

I do not understand why I was put in certain situations but after reading Psalm 121, I became more and more aware of His presence in my life. I know that My Father is watching over me.

What I should focus on is no longer the problem but the promises of God. Praise the Lord! Thanks be to God!

My Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

I believe with all my heart that You have been with me from day 1 of my life. Even when I did not know You, You knew me inside out.

You have created me for a purpose. My design is unique and You have not finished shaping me into Your perfect image. Yes, You are still at work, making each one of us perfect in Your eyes. Hallelujah!

Every bit of suffering according to Your will is worth it! You never gave up! You never let go!

Father God, I seek to know You deeper. And as I learn how to deal with situations Your way, succeeding in everything I do (because You are working through me), keep me from becoming proud. I KNOW that You oppose the proud but give grace to the humble. O God, please keep me humble.

Your promises: If I humble myself under Your mighty hand, You will lift me up in due time. I can cast all my anxiety on You because You care for me. If I exercise self-control and remain alert, if I resist the devil, standing firm in the faith, You, the God of all grace, who called me to Your eternal glory in Christ, after I have suffered a little while, will restore me and make me strong, firm and steadfast.

Peace to all my suffering brothers and sisters who are IN CHRIST.

Amen!
