Quiet Time with Jesus – What if Jesus comes on Christmas Day?

Wednesday, 30 November 2016

When I was a kid, I remember writing wishes on little cards, and hanging them on Christmas trees, believing that Santa Claus will answer my wishes. Sometimes, little children wish for things that they like but cannot have. Sometimes, little children wish for their parents to stop quarreling / fighting with each other. Sometimes, little children wish for their grandparents to be strong and healthy. We can sort these wishes into 2 categories – ‘wishes for self’ and ‘wishes for others’.

What are your wishes this Christmas?

The spirit of Christmas is ‘giving, giving and giving’

YL: I want to give because He first gave. God gave His One and Only Begotten Son. Jesus gave His life and shed His Blood.

Jesus: If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him! (Luke 11:13)

My 2016 Christmas wish: I want more of You God!

You are the Great I Am! If I have You, I have EVERYTHING I need. Fill me with the Holy Spirit! Fill me till You overflow out of me! May I overflow with Living Waters from the well of my heart. May I overflow with Love that is from heaven above. Cleanse me – thoroughly! Renew my mind – I want to exchange my ‘old wine skin’ to a ‘new wine skin’… Hallelujah!

Am I asking too much? You are our Father of ‘how much more’ – “How much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

Therefore, I sincerely ask for the in-filling of the Holy Spirit – continually – so that I may walk in Your ways, walk in Your will, and fulfil Your purposes for me. Amen!

Holy Spirit: What are you giving to Jesus this Christmas?

I remember the 3 ‘T’s – time, treasure and talents. How much time am I giving to Jesus on this Christmas Day? How much ‘treasure’? How about my talents?

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.
— Luke 4:18-19

Holy Spirit: Read the parable of the ten virgins, the parable of the talents, and the parable of the sheep and the goats. (Matthew 25)
