Imagine: a clockwork mouse running like ‘mad’ when it is wound up. Then, it slows down and stops. I am like a wound-up clockwork mouse now, running seemingly tirelessly, maybe even carelessly!
When I’m troubled, I become lethargic and lazy, not moving an inch, not lifting a finger… I become like a dead mouse! When I’m ‘wound-up’, I tend to run too fast!
My Father in heaven has given me SO much - I’m not talking about money or riches on earth. I am talking about salvation and my inheritance that is in heaven.
I think I need to slow down for a little while, rest and reflect on what I’m doing and where I’m going.
Therefore, Father God, I come before Your throne of grace, today and in quietness I pray:
Thank you for giving me true friends. Thank you that You speak through them - reminding me to be ‘careful’ - especially when I run too fast and not knowing it.
In the Bible, warriors have lost their battles when they fought without consulting God. Disaster resulted. How foolish man can be!
Father, I refuse to move another inch if You are not with me.
Father, I thank You for the Holy Spirit residing in me – He is always with me, teaching and guiding, chastising and correcting.
Father, I thank You for godly friends who speak the truth in love.
Father, please give me a humble heart so that I may hear You. It is my greatest desire to hear You clearly and specifically, to hear and to know what You are saying to me and Your church.
I thank You LORD! I thank You for You are good; Your love endures forever!
I cried out to You in my trouble, and You delivered me from my distress.
I thank You LORD for Your unfailing love and Your wonderful deeds for me.
You’ve satisfied my thirst. You’ve filled my hunger with good things.
I cried out to You in my trouble, and You saved me from my distress.
You brought me out of darkness and the deepest gloom and broke away the chains that held me captive.
I thank You LORD for Your unfailing love. You’ve sent forth Your word and healed me. You’ve rescued me from destruction.
I cried out to You in my trouble and You brought me out of my distress.
You stilled the storm to a whisper. The waves of the sea were hushed. I was glad when it grew calm, and You guided me to my desired haven. I thank You for Your unfailing love and Your wonderful deeds for men.
I long to exalt You in the assembly of Your people and praise You in the council of the elders. Great is Your love, higher than the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O GOD, above the heavens, and let Your GLORY be over ALL the earth. Amen!
I shall take time to rest and relax, reflect and re-align, run again and be on track with God. I desire to do Your will, O my God; Your law is within my heart. I do not want to run ahead of You, O my God. Neither do I want to slack behind. I want to run at the right pace, in the right direction, keeping in step with the Spirit all the time. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray. Amen!
