Quiet Time with Jesus – Consecration (2)

Friday, 21 October 2016

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
— John 1:17

Consecration is a process, like bathing. We wet our body, apply soap, rub the dirt off our body (paying more attention to the dirtier parts), rinse thoroughly and dry ourselves.

Law is given to keep us safe. Whether a nation is safe to live in depends on the law of that nation. Whether it is safe for a person to walk on the streets depends on the people responsible for maintaining law and order. If there are no consequences when someone breaks the law, the law becomes useless. Lawlessness takes over ...

Listen! Our God is calling us to be holy because He is holy. Jesus said that He did not come to abolish the law but He came to fulfil it.

What is holiness? How can we become holy? And God answered, "By my grace."

Jonathan Edwards: Grace is but glory begun, and glory is but grace perfected.

God’s grace is always resident in the heart of God’s truth. In God’s heart, I ‘see’ grace. His grace is unconditional. We do not have to work to earn His grace. God’s amazing grace is always available … We just need to ASK and He will GIVE.

Francis Frangipane: Although the Holy Spirit’s purpose is to “guide [us] into all the truth” (John 16:13), it is grace that supports our every step.

God has given us as a gift of love to His Son. Can you see ‘us’ clothed in white – dressed as His bride? Not only one of us but all of us – becoming ‘one in Christ’ – does it not blow your mind?

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

You are pure and holy! Consecrate us – cleanse us; make us pure; Help us yield to Your cleansing and hold on to our faith in Your ability to cleanse me thoroughly and completely. Amen!

We have been captured by Your love and amazing grace. Because of Your love, we can be honest about our weaknesses, face our fears, and bring our sins to Your throne of grace. Your hand of forgiveness is extended toward us.

The awesome truth is: Your ultimate purpose for our lives is the revelation of Christ in us in glory.

I am overwhelmed by the presence of Your holiness … I stand in ‘fear' … but I am not afraid because it is Your voice I hear, “Do not be afraid.” I stand in faith knowing that Your grace is upon me and I want to tell the whole world: "What Your truth demands, Your grace will supply." Hallelujah!

Grace and truth are realized in Jesus Christ (John 1:17) - what Truth demands, Grace will provide. Amen!
