Cairnhill Methodist Church just celebrated her 18th anniversary. Thanks be to God! As for me, I have walked with the Lord for 15 good years. What does the word ‘good’ mean? Where am I now on this journey and how long more to walk before I reach the finishing line?
A church is made up of individual lives, and collectively we comprise what the Bible calls the church – the bride of Christ. On the wedding day, what is in the heart and mind of the bride?
ersonally, I have often cared too much about what people think of me! What a shame! Thanks be to God that He gives me opportunities to draw near to Him, and to lean on Him.
Life on earth for me is a journey with Jesus. I know where my eternal home is. The apartment where I live in today is merely a temporary shelter over my head. In truth, I am now a spirit born - IN CHRIST, redeemed by His Blood and together with all other believers I become a part of His Body. Hallelujah!
In the book of Revelation, Jesus reprimanded the church in Laodicea:
My prayer: O Lord, open our ears to hear you knock on our door! Come in and eat with us. Jesus, Your food is to do the will of God. Let us eat with You. Give us the privilege and the pleasure!
In Luke 13, Jesus said twice: “… unless you repent, you too will all perish (verses 3 and 5).
My prayer: O Lord, we want to be a tree that bears much fruit, the kind that You are pleased with. You are the true vine and God is the Gardener! He cuts off every branch that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes [disciplines] so that it will be even more fruitful. Apart from You, we can do nothing! Even if the whole world commends us, we are useless if we are not bearing the kind of fruit that You are looking for.
Therefore, open our eyes to see You! Open our ears to hear Your voice!
O Father God! Have mercy on us! We want to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to You.
Apostle Paul said, “Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.” (Romans 12:3)
May our love abound more and more in knowledge [knowing God] and depth of insight [1 Corinthians 2:10 – 11 “God has revealed it to us by His Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God … no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God”] so that we may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ.
