Quiet Time with Jesus – Jesus prayed

Tuesday, 26 January 2016

Wayne Cordeiro: I wonder how many prayers of mine Jesus has answered.

A hundred?

A thousand?

Maybe it’s time we answered just one of His.

Immediately, one prayer came to my mind:

Holy Father, guard them as they pursue this life that You conferred as a gift through me, so they can be ONE HEART AND MIND as we are ONE HEART AND MIND.

I’m praying not only for them but also for those who will believe in me because of them and their witness about me. The goal is for all of them to become ONE HEART AND MIND – just as You, Father, are in me and I in You, so they might be ONE HEART AND MIND with us.
— Excerpt of Jesus' prayer (John 17 The Message)

How Jesus long for us to be one heart and mind with Him and the Father!

[There is a longing, only You can fill, a raging tempest, only You can still …]

O Holy Spirit, you are our teacher - teach us how to be one heart and mind, amen.

The Word clearly tells us what to do. Let me just quote one verse in the Bible:

Show proper respect to everyone:

LOVE the brotherhood of believers, FEAR God, and HONOUR the King
— 1 Peter 2:17

When Samuel heard the voice of God calling to him in the night, his mentor told him how to respond. Samuel discovered that it was God calling. He did not ignore the voice. He did not rebuke it. He LEARNED TO LISTEN.

There are many voices - God speaks ... the world speaks … the devil speaks … even the flesh speaks … We simply need to recognize the voice of God.

Kingdom life is following the leading of the Lord, listening to the Lord’s voice and following the way of the Lord.

My prayer

Speak LORD, for your servant is listening; Give me a humble heart that I may hear You, amen.

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27)
