Quiet Time with Jesus – Kingdom life

Friday, 22 January 2016

When a young lady took on the job of discipline mistress, an older man said, “It is a job that nobody will thank you for. Do it for a few years and give it to someone else.”

Can anything be more discouraging?

In the kingdom, we have to be great in patience, maturity, commitment, endurance, perseverance, discipline, faith, forgiveness …

Many serve until it becomes work or until it becomes unrecognized or unappreciated by others.

So, what is the kingdom reward?

To me, the reward is the pure joy of following Jesus and working with Him.

Following Christ is not about pleasing those who are able to give a big donation or who might be able to promote our cause or advance our social standing. The way of the cross is caring for those who would otherwise be ostracized or forgotten.

Dear God, teach us to be true followers of Christ. Fill us with the passion of Christ so that the sweet fragrance of His presence saturates the atmosphere wherever we go. Your love will draw people into Your eternal kingdom of light. Use us, LORD. Amen

Today, God is asking, "Do you love Me?"

Jesus said, “If you love me, you will obey what I command.” (John 14:15)

Like the psalmist, I want to relish everything You’ve told me of life, I do not want to forget a word of it. Holy Spirit, help me, amen.

I seek You with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
Praise be to you, O LORD; teach me your decrees.
I rejoice ... I meditate ... I delight ... (Psalm 119:10-16)
