Quiet Time with Jesus – Perfect Gifts

Monday, 14 September 2015

“The Word became flesh” means becoming human. Jesus came from God. He is the Word and He became flesh. Jesus Christ was the perfect teacher during His life on earth. Today, God continues to teach us through the Holy Spirit.

Jesus was and is the perfect sacrifice; Jesus came as a sacrifice for all sins, and His death satisfied God’s requirements for the removal of sin (Colossians 1:15-23).

Jesus is God’s One and Only Son. He came from the Father. Jesus demonstrated a unique kind of relationship with His Father, the perfect relationship.

Law and grace are both aspects of God’s nature that He uses in dealing with us. Law punishes us, imputes fear so that we do not sin again. Grace forgives us, imputes love so that we do not want to hurt the One who loves us so much.

We are not eyewitnesses of Jesus’ life and teachings but through faith (which is a gift of God), we believe. The Holy Spirit helps us remember what Jesus teaches in the Word of God. Let us be receptive.

Sin, uncertainty, doubt and numerous other forces never cease to attack us. In the presence of God is peace, His peace reigns in our hearts. It is the confident assurance of God’s love in any circumstance. We receive His perfect love. His perfect love drives out fear. Let us be receptive.

‘Grace’ and ‘peace’ are words used by the world too. Mortgage lenders give periods of ‘grace’; Politicians talk to negotiate ‘peace’ between warring countries. But the grace and peace of the world is different from the grace and peace from God. One comes from human hearts and the other from the heart of the Father; One is temporal, the other eternal; one limited, the other unlimited. The peace from God is perfect. The grace from God is perfect. Let us be receptive.

When the peace of Christ and the grace of God flow into our lives, we are enriched and empowered by the Spirit of God.

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

How great is Your love! How rich is Your grace! How powerful is Your peace!

Open our hearts to receive Your everlasting love, Your amazing grace and Your perfect peace and release us into the world to demonstrate Your love, grace and peace.

In Jesus’ name I pray.
Amen.

Lam Yee Ling

Father, not my will but Yours be done. Amen.
