Quiet Time with Jesus – A servant's gaze

Saturday, 12 September 2015

Oswald Chambers said that a Christian servant is one who perpetually looks into the face of God and then goes forth to talk to others. The ministry of Christ is characterized by an abiding glory of which the servant is totally unaware.

Moses’ face was radiant after he spent time with God. The people could clearly see God’s presence in him.

Today, we can gaze into the face of God by spending time in prayer, reading the Bible, and meditating on His Word. Let us live in His Word and in His Spirit.

Our God, His Word and His Spirit are one. Let us stay in tune with our God all the time so that His glory is reflected through us and people can see that we have been with God.

In the Gospel, we see the truth about Christ. The Spirit of Truth works within us so that we inherit God’s nature. When a believer is willing to submit and yield to the guidance of the Spirit of Truth, knowledge deepens. The mind of Christ is formed and we are transformed.

“Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.”
— 1 John 3:2-3

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

As we continue to seek You, we rejoice in Your presence and love. Indeed, You are always with us. You will never leave us nor forsake us. Your light never fades. Your love never fails.

We desire to know You more, love You and serve You with all our heart.

We are Your servants. Help us to become more and more like Christ, the Servant-King.

Teach us to be selfless. Help us to take our eyes off ourselves and to meet others’ needs.

In Jesus’ name I pray.
Amen.

Father, not my will but Yours be done. Amen.
