Love begins with listening. When we love someone, we will listen attentively. When we love God, we will listen attentively to what He says – behold Mary’s attitude and posture, when she sat at Jesus’ feet (Luke 10: 38 – 42). Nothing worried her. Nothing upset her.
Listening is not mere hearing. True listening is allowing the words to sink in - deep into our heart - into our spirit, our inner being.
God’s Word is life - living water for our spirit, soul and body. God’s Word is powerful - medicine for our body, and food for our spiritual growth.
Listening leads to obeying. We need to know His commands before we can obey. We need to know Him before we can please Him. The Bible says – obedience is better than sacrifice.
When God first created man, His intention was to provide all that man may need. His intention was to have fellowship with man all the time. In His presence is fullness of joy.
God is our Abba Father. He is worthy of all praise! I am secure in His presence - “I am dwelling in the shelter of the Most High. I am resting in the shadow of the Almighty. I am saying of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’ Surely He will save me from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover me with His feathers, and under His wings I will find refuge; His faithfulness is my shield and rampart.” (Psalm 91:1-4)
Dear Father God,
Help us to read Your Word and yield to the Holy Spirit who is teaching us all things.
Let us clothe ourselves with humility, compassion, kindness, gentleness and patience.
Let us put on love that binds us all together in perfect unity.
Let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts.
Let Your Word dwell in us richly.
And let us be thankful.
