Quiet Time with Jesus – Everything

Wednesday, 5 August 2015

Once upon a time, there was a family of three living in poverty. Mum died in an accident when a policeman caught her stealing a loaf of bread for her young daughter. Dad suffered from mental illness, cooked rat meat and fed her young daughter. The young girl grew up calling herself a rat and finally plunged to her death when pursued by a policewoman who wanted to help her. It was a tragedy but a journalist wrote a story and a message – “$1 to the rich is nothing but to the poor, it is everything.”

The above story reminds me of the woman who dropped all her coins into the offering bag. The amount is small in the eyes of the rich but in the eyes of God, it is everything.

God sent His Son … He gave His everything …

God’s purpose is to make us one with Himself. The Bible said that it was God’s will to bruise His own Son (Isaiah 53:10).

The Body of Christ is called to live in a perfect relationship with Christ and that our lives produce a yearning for God in the lives of others, not admiration for ourselves. Thoughts about ourselves hinder our usefulness to God. God’s purpose is not to perfect us to make us a trophy in His showcase. He is getting us to the place where He can use us. Let Him do what He wants. Give Him your ‘everything’.

So You Would Come - Hillsong United

Before the world began; You were on His mind; And every tear you cry; Is precious in His eyes; Because of His great love; He gave His only Son; Everything was done; So you would come;

Nothing you can do; Could make Him love you more; And nothing you’ve done; Could make Him close the door; Because of His great love; He gave His only Son; Everything was done; So you would come;

Come to the Father; Though your gift is small; Broken hearts, broken lives; He will take them all; The power of the word; The power of His blood; Everything was done; So you would come;

“He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him … He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering … Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered Him stricken by God, smitten by Him, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.”
— Isaiah 53:2b-5

Christ is our Redeemer. Our Redeemer lives. Christ is the Head. We are His Body. Every believer belongs to Him and to one another! Amen!

Peter said, “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear Him and do what is right. You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached – how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how He went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with Him.”
— Acts 10:34-38

My Proclamation for all believers of Jesus Christ:

In the name of JESUS, I proclaim that the Spirit of the LORD is upon us. He has anointed us to proclaim good news to the poor. He is sending us to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, and to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor. (Luke 4:18-19)
