Quiet Time with Jesus – Yielding to the Spirit

What is God interested in?

God is interested in setting us free. It pains His heart to see His children suffer from the woes of sin. When we turn to God and talk to Him, telling Him what we have done wrong … sincerely repent with the determination to change … knowing that God accepts our apology and He forgives … God extends His mercy … He watches … He warns … He waits …

Upon receiving God’s pardon, a person may feel that he is set free from what was engulfing him but if he does not change the way he thinks, the way he lives … he will go back to his old self.

When we surrender ourselves to God, we have to learn to yield to His Spirit … It takes time.

A person who has received God’s forgiveness can expect to enjoy the ‘fullness of life’.

What does it mean to enjoy the fullness of life?

How many of us think that it means wealth, health and happiness? Someone asked, “If I believe in your Jesus, will I be wealthy, healthy and happy?”

What is God interested in?

You order a meal [God serves you a wholesome meal], you eat only what you like …

You read the Bible [you ‘eat’ His words], but you choose to remember [internalize] only what you like …

If we do not consume the entire wholesome meal that God serves, we are missing it.

What is God interested in?

As we begin to yield to His Spirit (who is living in us), we begin our journey to our destiny. We begin to change the way we think …

Believers are called to be prophets, priests and kings. God anoints us. As His prophets, we speak His words when we tell others what the Bible says. If we lack the Holy Spirit’s power – if we do not tell others about Jesus – we ask God.

Jesus promised that His Father delights to give the Holy Spirit to those who ask. So we ask.
— Luke 11:13

As God’s priests, we offer spiritual sacrifices – serving God and others. God is calling us – to give sacrificially, love when it is hard to love, pray for others and give our whole lives to Him. (Romans 12:1; Ephesians 5:2; Philippians 2:17; Philippians 4:18; 1 Peter 2:5)

My Prayer

Dear Father God

Thank You for giving us the honour of becoming Your prophets, priests and kings. You have made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve You, and we will reign on the earth. (Revelation 5:10)

Help us LORD, to know and to make a deliberate determination to be interested only in what You are interested.

Paul tells us to preach “Jesus Christ and Him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:2).

Father, You have said that You are with me. You are mighty to save. You will take great delight in me. You will quiet me with Your love. You will rejoice over me with singing. (Zephaniah 3:17) Yes! Amen!

Holy Spirit, You will instruct me and teach me in the way I should go; You will guide me with Your eye. (Psalm 32:8) Yes! Amen!

I surrender to You Father God. This day and every day of my life, I want to yield to Your Spirit in me.

In Jesus’ matchless name I pray.
Amen.

Lam Yee Ling

Father, not my will but Yours be done. Amen.
