Quiet Time with Jesus – Intercede

Saturday, 25 July 2015

God gives us free will. He has not changed. He is still giving us free will.

We are free to choose. Even after we have chosen Him, He still gives us free choice.

I wrote in my journal:

Criticise            or intercede

Fear                  or faith

Distraction       or restoration

Destruction      or construction

Father, I need discernment so that I can intercede effectively.

To intercede effectively, I must put on the full Armour of God, use my Sword, and stand firm – steadfast, steady and strong in the LORD.

When I intercede, I allow the Holy Spirit to lead. I will talk to God, ask God, request God, move God’s heart, move God’s hand, seek God’s help – that’s the ultimate answer and solution to all questions and problems.

Before I receive the Holy Spirit, my soul controls me. Everything is moved by my soul – my mind and my emotions.

God gives me free choice. It is up to me to say to God – I choose Jesus.

After I receive the Holy Spirit, I choose to declare that my soul no longer controls me – my mind and my emotions shall not move me …

I say:

Before – my soul controls;

After – my spirit controls;

As my spirit allows the Holy Spirit to take over – the world shall see ‘self-control, self-discipline, self-confidence, and self-motivation’.

The world does not know Him. The ‘self’ is no longer controlled by the flesh. The ‘self’ is now Spirit-filled – by the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, of counsel and power, of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.

In other words, God imparts His wisdom and gives us understanding. God gives us His counsel and power. We know Him and we ‘fear’ Him. He is our LORD and Master.

Fear of the LORD: Reverence

The new ‘self

We have a new ‘self’

·         surrendered to the Most High God

·         submissive to the Holy One of Israel

·         slave to Righteousness (no longer slave to sin)

Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of Your presence, LORD. They exult [rejoice, triumph] in Your righteousness.
— Psalm 89:15-16 (NLT)
They will neither harm nor destroy on all My holy mountain; [We will neither harm nor destroy in God’s righteous kingdom]. For the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.
— Isaiah 11:9 (NIV)

Our earth is a water planet. Hallelujah!

The LORD, the LORD is my strength and my song;
[To God, to God forever I shall belong]
He has become my salvation;
[I thank God for His restoration]
With joy I will draw water from the wells of salvation
— Isaiah 12:1-6 (NIV)

Are you thirsty? Come to the LORD and drink!

God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
— 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV)
God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid...”
— Hebrews 13:5-6 (NIV)

My Prayer

Dear Father God

Our state of mind is powerful in its effects. It can be the enemy that penetrates right into our soul and distracts our mind from You. Our confidence in the flesh is what rules our lives.

Help us to be aware of “the cares of this world …” (Mark 4:19). They are the very things that produce the wrong attitudes of our soul.

I refuse to be swamped by “the cares of this world.”

Another thing that distracts us is our passion for vindication. Such a need (or lust) for constant vindication destroys our soul’s faith in You.

I will not say, ‘I must explain myself,’ or ‘I must get people to understand.’

I choose to learn from Jesus.

The devil distracts and destroys. Help me discern his ploys.

When I discern that other people are not growing spiritually and allow that discernment to turn to criticism, I block my fellowship with You.

You never give me discernment so that I may criticize, but that I may intercede.

Oh Holy Spirit! Teach me to pray in the spirit!

In Jesus’ wonderful, beautiful, glorious and matchless name, I pray.

Amen!

Lam Yee Ling

Father, not my will but Yours be done. Amen.
