We went with a program - after a process of planning and practicing.
We went with a passion - a burning desire to please God, save souls, and we were bursting with enthusiasm. We were on fire!
A program without passion is a ‘dead’ program. We need life - life in Christ.
Christ lives in us. Christ works with us. Christ loves through us. Praise God!
A program without power is ‘fruitless’. We need the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is like the power bank for our mobile phone. When we keep using our phone, the battery runs out. We need to pause and plug into the power source. Praise God for providing the power!
My thoughts on Sunday (29 Nov) before church service:
I have 2Ps – program and passion; Lord, can I have one more P?
God answered powerfully through Brother Duncan, our speaker:
The 3rd P is ‘position’ – sit, fit, knit
This morning, I wrote in my journal: 3 more Ps – program, passion, position.
I had written 3Ps in my journal – seek God PASSIONATELY, live PRAYERFULLY, serve PURPOSEFULLY;
Today, I’m writing what the Holy Spirit is saying about program, passion, and position.
What is a program?
Imagine sending an untrained soldier to a war. He will die. We need to train our soldiers spiritually to fight a spiritual war. It is not ‘love’ when we ‘push’ untrained soldiers into the battlefield. God in His mercy will protect His soldiers, but we are all answerable to God.
The Holy Spirit is sent by God to teach us all things and to remind us of all things taught.
We need the Holy Spirit to be with us especially when the enemy attacks. He will tell us what to do. Victory is definite.
Spiritual military training is essential for every Christian soldier. The syllabus is simple – Scripture and Spirit. Every soldier needs to know what God says in His Word. Every soldier needs to go to war with the Spirit. No spiritual war can be won without the Holy Spirit’s in-dwelling presence and power.
How does passion come about?
A seed is planted. When the soil is ready, the seed will germinate and grow. When the seedling is well-watered (by the Word of God), it will grow into a plant upright (rooted in the Word and filled with the Holy Spirit).
Passion is planted by God Himself. The choice is made by man – whether to follow Jesus or not. If a man decides to follow Jesus, he has to take up his cross and follow Him. That is the price to pay – not by works but by dying to self.
God provides a seat in heaven. If we choose to sit in that seat in heaven with Christ, we will see what He sees, we will feel what He feels, and we will think what He thinks.
God places every follower of Christ in the right position:
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues.” (1 Corinthians 12:27-28)
Testimony (a lesson conducted by the Holy Spirit)
A team of 21 was formed to go on a mission trip. This is not the first time. Through previous experiences and observations, responsibilities were assigned to individuals.
A team of 7 was formed within the team of 21. The smaller team was prepared with a program. Full of faith and filled with the Holy Spirit, the smaller team ministered to about 120 children and 10 teachers.
All things are possible with God! The presence of God was awesome, so awesome that one team member taught the local children the English word ‘awesome’. Isn’t it amazing?
Throughout the program, the Holy Spirit prompted and led in altar calls – even prayer during worship e.g. after singing “Friend of God”, praise and prayer - even a prayer walk (when we were running short of time); songs of commitment were sung again and again e.g. “If my life were like a car, I will give the key to Jesus …” Isn’t it awesome?
One person cannot be everywhere. One person cannot do everything. But we were one in Christ. We did what the Holy Spirit tells us (individually) to do and at the end of the day, we could hear Him say, “Great job! Well done!” - not to one person but to one team - one body in Christ. Praise the Lord!
Personally, I was aware of the enemy trying various ways to distract us, dishearten us … but he failed. Praise be to God! The Presence of God was so strong that light drove out darkness – LOVE conquered all. Hallelujah!
Dear Father God,
Thank You for sending us – LIFE ambassadors. Please continue to prepare us for Your purposes, be it going overseas or going into local communities to tell people of all nations about You, Your grace and goodness.
May Your Kingdom come and may Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen!
