Quiet Time with Jesus – The Fall of Man

Charles Swindoll (The Finishing Touch)

Take from us our wealth and we are hindered. Take our health and we are handicapped. Take our purpose and we are slowed, temporarily confused. But take away our hope, and we are plunged into deepest darkness … stopped dead in our tracks, paralyzed.

Wondering, “Why?”

Asking, “How much longer? Will this darkness ever end? Does He know where I am?”

The period from Oct 1994 till Dec 1998 was the darkest in my life. That was also the highest position (in the secular world) held in my ‘working’ life. In the eyes of the world, I was doing well but in truth, I was struggling … heading towards helplessness and hopelessness until I walked into Cairnhill Methodist Church ... Thanks be to God!

“Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.”
— Psalm 31:24

If you are struggling today, be of good courage. The LORD knows what you are going through. The LORD knows that it has been a long time. The LORD has allowed it for a reason. Seek Him with all your heart. He will show you.

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

Since the fall of man, we have to deal with sin, sorrow, sickness and death. I confess that there are things that make me feel anxious in my soul from time to time. I lift them up to You and ask that You take those anxieties away and give me YOUR PEACE. Comfort my soul as only You can do. Help me understand my life and my circumstances from YOUR PERSPECTIVE so that I won’t be tempted to dwell on them with a heavy heart. Thank You for the comfort of Your unfailing love.

“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.”
— Pslam 94:19

O Father, You are the GOD of HOPE. And right now, I lift up my brothers and sisters in Christ to You – all who are feeling anxious, helpless, hopeless … Fill them with all joy and peace as they trust in You, so that they may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)

In Jesus’ wonderful name I pray.

To whom it may concern

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
— Exodus 14:14

Lam Yee Ling

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
— John 3:16
