Quiet Time with Jesus – A Thankful Heart

Charles Swindoll (The Finishing Touch)

There is a practical reason 'Thanksgiving' always precedes 'Christmas': It sets in motion the ideal mental attitude to carry us through the weeks in between. Unquote.

Who am I that God has chosen me and adopted me as His child? Right from the beginning, He has loved me, watched over me, raised me, protected me and prepared me for today. It’s amazing!

My Thanksgiving Prayer

Dear Father God,

Thank You Father: for Your sovereign control over my circumstances, for Your Word that gives me direction, for Your Love that holds me close, for Your understanding when I am confused, and for Your Holy Spirit that enlightens my eyes.

I am contented but not complacent; I am thankful that You do not tempt me but You tests me. Help me to know the difference.

We are fighting a spiritual war!

O Father God, help me to discern what is true and what is false; Help me to discern what is right and what is wrong; I do not want to grieve Your Spirit; I will not allow the enemy to bring me down with thoughts that make me anxious, fearful, or depressed. I will come to You instead.

I want to seek You passionately, live prayerfully and serve You purposefully. Your Kingdom has come! Your will is being done in my life. Hallelujah!

Julian of Norwich

The whole reason why we pray is to be united into the vision and thought of Him to whom we pray.

Jesus said,

“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.”
— John 17:24

Song: Friend of God

Who am I that you are mindful of me, that You hear me, when I call?

Is it true that You are thinking of me, that You love me? It’s amazing!

I am a friend of God; I am a friend of God; I am a friend of God; He calls me friend;

I am a friend of God; I am a friend of God; I am a friend of God; He calls me friend;

God Almighty, Lord of Glory; You have called me friend …

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

I want to be united into Your Vision and Thought.

I want to know You. I want to love You and serve You with all my heart.
