In the Old Testament, we read about how Miriam and Aaron opposed Moses (Numbers 12), how the people rebelled against God (Numbers 13-14), and how Korah gathered his followers in opposition to Moses and Aaron (Numbers 16) ... and we saw the wrath of God.
Joshua was appointed to succeed Moses (Numbers 27:12-23). Joshua was Moses’ assistant. Moses trained and prepared him for many years in the wilderness. God commended Joshua as one “in whom is the Spirit” a reference to the indwelling Spirit of God.
Moses and Joshua were different. The style of their leadership was different. We can learn from them that a new leader may not have the gifts of the old, but he will have other gifts ... let us appreciate one another’s different gifts.
Moses died and Joshua led the people of Israel into Canaan. God fulfilled the promises Israel had pursued for many years. God is faithful. God is merciful.
During our journey here on earth to the promised land, we have many lessons to learn. We will also reap what we sow. For example, when we plant a sunflower seed, we will get a sunflower plant. We must remember that there are consequences to our actions. If we put the sunflower plant away from the sunlight, there will be no sunflowers.
Therefore, let us always remember Jesus' words "go and make disciples teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you". Human leaders are God's servants to carry out His will.
Moses and Aaron were different. They were also imperfect but there is so much we can learn from Moses. He was always seeking God and interceding for His people:
May we have the spirit of intercession.
As we serve God in our different roles, let us remember that we are only part of the flow of His actions, and only a small part of His BIG Plan.
Dear Father God,
As we grasp the depth of Your message, help us to submit to Your Sovereignty.
Strengthen us and sanctify us to serve You wholeheartedly.
The beauty of the sunflower depends on the sunlight. The flower finds the sunlight, faces the sunlight and follows the sunlight. Likewise, we are created to follow You to give You all the Glory.
Our gifts and responses to You may be different but together as one in Christ, may our actions be pleasing to You.
May Your purposes for us be fulfilled.
May the whole world see Your Glory and give You Praise!
In Jesus’ name I pray.

Seek Him, submit and be strengthened to serve Him wholeheartedly.
